The Santa Barbara flower scene … we didn’t even get to the Botanical Gardens yet!

I’ve no idea what this stuff is, but it covered the wall behind our hotel where we parked. A whole huge wall of flowers!

Here’s an up-close shot … see the little white inner flowers?

I’m pretty sure these are day lillies – am I right Mom?

Day lillies

There were lots of these everywhere.

For goodness sakes, will someone please tell me what this thing is?

Really odd looking flowers in Santa Barbara

Don’t those flowers look like bird’s heads?

    Hi Ginnie,

What lovely pictures. I think the wall of flowers are Bougainvilleas. The Lily looks like the day lilies I once had in a previous home and the last flower looks to be a Bird of Paradise. Did you all find a new home during your visit to Santa Barbara and Goleta?

Hey there, Mom says the lily is a tiger lily, which I should have known from watching Peter Pan after all! We found several homes we liked, but are waiting for our house to get an offer before we do anything official.

Bird of paradise, eh? I have a lot to learn. Thanks! ~G
