Horrified and grateful all at once

Just around the corner from the home we sold less than a week ago is this:

Colorado Springs fires

These are homes I drove by almost every week. These are homes owned by people I know and love.

This is horrifying … completely horrifying.

I am calling and hearing from neighbors, friends, and family back in the Springs area.  Many are fine and they all tell me that the community is rallying to help each other. Pets and animals are finding temporary shelter. People are staying with friends all around the city. My girls have been helping clear brush and trees from open areas and yards to keep the fires from spreading. Everyone is struggling to breathe and stay safe.

I cannot be prouder of my former community and town and all the wonderful people there. I am so sorry for those who have lost their homes and I’m so sorry I am not there to help. Please know that you are all in our hearts no matter where we are. We’ll be praying for rain.

One note to the person or persons who may or may not be setting these despicable fires: may you bloody well rot in hell.

I’ve been thinking about you and wondering if your previous home was affected. The pictures are frightening and we’re keeping all involved in our prayers.

I am too … out here in Santa Barbara and praying for rain in Colorado. Good to know you are safe though too.
