First day of Sailing

Remember that post about crack? Well we’re taking our American Sailing Association 101 level course this weekend. Three days, two books, and a whole lot of sailing. All weekend long.

So, here’s the little boat we’ll be using – a J24

On our way out of the harbor, we passed this big channel buoy covered in seals.

There were big rolling swells all day long. The wind was light in the morning, but it picked up after lunch.

Some of the day, I looked like this:

By the end of the day, however, we looked like this:

We were tacking by ourselves the first day of sailing. We may have this down!
