Gosh, that was fast – the Marzipan beret

So, my eldest shrunk the hat I knitted for her some time ago – to a point too small for her head, which she says is big but I can vouch for the fact that it’s a perfectly normal cute head. Still, we were one person in a cold region of the world in the winter without a good hand-knit hat.

Something had to be done.

So, while unpacking the boxes of yarn, I set aside a blue Madelintosh yarn for a hat and scoured Ravelry for a beret pattern. I remembered loving knitting the Marzipan hat and so I cast on while at the knitting store on Sunday. I had to rip it back once when it was about 1/3 of the way done because I noticed a mistake in the brim ribbing – I’d dropped a stitch and it was too far gone to rescue (trust me), so I started over and finished it last night.

Here it is!

Sorry for the flat picture, but there are no hat models around. It fits so nicely.

I love it so much, I almost thought of keeping it but a quick online chat this morning reveals she’s sick with a cold and that trumps my need for the hat. In the mail it goes!

Still, I have another skein of the same yarn …. I think I’ll cast on another for me.
