I had a text conversation with my guy yesterday and it’s a good example of a lot of our conversations. I’m wondering if I’m the only one who suffers through messages like this, but I’m pretty sure I can’t be the only one.
This is how it went (I left the grammar, spelling, etc. as it was in our texts
just to be mean to be fair):
Me: Moving lunch to tomorrow will help me. Is that option still open?
Him: Sounds geat tomorrow at 11AM. Does that time work for you?
Me: Sure. Thank you. 11 not 11:30? Where would you like to go?
Him: How about Sandspit?
Me: Tis fine. See you there at 11 not 11:30.
Him: Ok at 11 I will be a little late because I will be getting out of a meeting
… and this is where I want to scream or bang my head on the desk.
The conversation goes downhill from there with me explaining that 11 was his idea, not mine. I know he never has lunch at 11 and that’s why I double-checked and then checked again!
It’s conversations like these that make me wonder how does he make it in the work world? Do he have conversations like this with colleagues, or is it just me that he puts through this god-awful wringer?
I’d really like to know … am I the only one who gets this?
Note: Sandspit isn’t really the name of a restaurant – it’s our name for a restaurant that happens to be on a sandspit and since we never can remember the name of that restaurant, we just call it Sandspit. It’s got really great food and it’s right on the ocean and near the airport, so it’s often our first stop when we pick people up. I should ask them to rename it for us.
